Monday Must-Haves!!!

*I am still working on the format of my blog, so any constructive tips or suggestions are welcome!*

As I start my last week and my job, I have decided to go on a shopping hiatus once I get back from my vacay. It breaks my heart, but I have so many unworn clothing that I really need to take the time to shop my own closet.  However, a girl can still dream and I present you with my Monday Must-Haves!

ASOS Sleeveless Pleated Maxi Dress: sold out in
my size in this color but can be found here!

Marc by Marc Jacobs 'Take Me Ozzie' Tote: find here and here.

TOMS Gabriela Flats: find here.

Bauble Bar Molten Gold Bib Necklace: find here.

What items have you been lusting for this Monday?

OOTD: Printed Maxi Dress and Denim Shirt

Sorry for awful lighting; hoping the lighting at my new place will be better. Also, I take my photos with my iPhone so they are not the best quality. Looking to upgrade soon!

Below is how I rocked the maxi dress to a friend's BBQ yesterday. I felt the dress alone was too sexy, so I opted for a denim shirt on top tied at the waist. It was super comfy, and I really like the pop of color the dress gives. I initially wasn't going to get the dress because I didn't think it was versatile enough, but I love it as both a dress and a skirt and can see myself wearing until the end of the summer/early fall.

Not sure I'm loving the self-portraits so may have to force recruit my loving boyfriend to volunteer ;-) Also, a little update in the dress - after wearing it for a couple hours last night, it has stretched out, and I honestly don't think it will last much past the next month. The dangers of buying cheap! Until next time!
Shirt: Forever 21 - $19.80; Dress: Lucaya $24.99; Watch: Kenneth Cole; Flats: Payless; Necklace: Forever 21

The pains of moving

I am in such a weird place right now in my life.  I am leaving my job/internship that I have done for the past 18 months. I have graduated from grad school. And now I am moving to DC and starting a new career. It is all a bit nerve wracking and scary.  The last 4-5 years for me have been nothing but turbulent; I graduated undergrad, went abroad for two years, found the love of my life, had family issues, started and finished grad school, etc. I m soooo ready for a change. I am ready for stability and to feel like I am beginning the rest of my life. I want to get married, have a successful career and BABIES! However, before that can even begin, I need to move. The month of August is going to be a nightmare for me, but I look forward to sharing it all with you. I'll be leaving my beloved MD to finally become a Washingtonian, I head abroad (finally!) and get to be unemployed for awhile as I move between jobs.  It'll be an interesting transition to say the least....

Packing up 2 years is going to be difficult!

Steal: Printed Maxi Dress from Lucaya

Since reading "Overdressed" (will try to review when I'm done with it), I have been trying to go for more quality over quantity. "Overdressed" focuses on our obsession with cheap, fast fashion. It promotes shopping less for more quality pieces rather than cheap clothing that one last a wash (*cough *Forever 21*cough*H&M*cough). So this post is completely runs counter to that message, but I am also trying to invest in better quality pieces as well.

I didn't couldn't stop myself from picking up this cute maxi dress for $25!! It's from a local teeny booper store in the DMV; it's not the best quality, but when I shop trends I try to go cheaper. I plan to pair this with denim shirt tomorrow for a friend's welcome back party. Pics to follow! It is very figure flattering, and since I'm on a diet, it's nice to see my progress when I can wear something like this.

Here are some pics of the dress in question!  I'm loving the funky print and it just screams summer! Excited to rock this on my vacation! Excuse the background, will find a better shooting spot once we move.

Maxi Dress in full! Excuse wires and door; in the
middle of moving so no suitable place to photograph yet.

Up close and personal.

I think I have a Zara addiction!

Update: So after writing up this post about going on a spending ban I ran over to Zara and picked up some more unnecessary items!  I was also able to meet Krystal, the blogger behind The Feisty House. It was like seeing a celebrity! She is so much more fabulous in person and has amazing style! I saw some of the items she picked up and I was very jealous, but kept my purchase to two items only!

So in anticipation of going to Spain next month, I have been stocking up hoarding items from ZARA's semi-annual sale.  I feel like last year I didn't get anything, primarily because I was a broke unpaid intern, but I am just now understanding the amazingness of ZARA.  Well this year I made out like a bandit! The sale began on 6/28, and like any feign needing a fix I was online at midnight, list in hand, putting marked down items into my cart.  I was not done. I later went to downtown DC and hit the ZARA there accumulating items I plan to wear on my vacation.  I have been several more times spending more money and amassing more clothing.  I have an addiction and its name is ZARA.  Before her was ASOS and H&M, but I have decided to put myself on a spending ban once I get back from vacation.  Why not now? Well, ZARA and other amazing Spanish brands such as Massimo Dutti, Blanco and Sfera are having sales currently. I want to stock up on cheaper prices (ZARA is marked up about 30% in the US, this is including the 18-20% VAT we Americans are eligible to get back), and I am new job wardrobe mode.  Though I am moving in a week and will lose large amounts of closet space, I can't stop myself from accumulating items from the Spanish brand. Le sigh.

**Disclaimer:  I know ZARA clothing is not the best greatest quality, but their prices are just right during the sale.  However, outside of the sale and Spain, I would rather spend my money on better quality items from Anthropologie or J.Crew (on sale of course) or just buy cheap at H&M or F21. However, I do enjoy Zara's unique Spanish style and have really enjoyed the pieces I have gotten there. In addition, I find that price many times accounts for quality.  Dropping $90 on a blazer versus $50 may make all the difference!

Check out some ZARA picture porn below! Though the jacket is sold out online, it may be available in stores. I did grab the last pair of these boots (that I saw) at the Georgetown location, but they are available (or were this morning) online in a size 9 only - ZARA High Heel Studded Ankle Boot on Sale.
Zara bag!  Accumulating these by the dozens!
Floral Jacket I had been eyeing that dropped down to $40!!! Still steep but worth it!
Infamous sale sign that draws me in each time.
Ready for the fall!
